With the Israel-Palestine crisis in its fourth week, UN aid teams on Monday highlighted the mounting pressure on north Gaza hospitals where patients and health workers remain, amid reports of expanded Israeli ground operations.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini addressed the UN Security Council Meeting on the situation in the Middle East.
Gazans “feel the world is equating all of them to Hamas.
This is dangerous. And we know this too well from previous conflicts and crises.”Full remarks from @UNLazzarini at the @UN Security Council ⬇️https://t.co/0KbTXV279M pic.twitter.com/IhGYmxo8e6

On Sunday, UNRWA held a service for the 59 staff who have been killed in Gaza. The loss of friends & colleagues is a stark reminder of the immense human suffering that continues to unfold each day.
In desperation, thousands of people broke into several UNRWA warehouses and distribution centres in the middle and southern areas of the Gaza Strip, taking wheat flour and other basic survival items like hygiene supplies.
“People are scared, frustrated and desperate. Tensions and fear are made worse by the cuts in the phones and internet communication lines. They feel that they are on their own, cut off from their families inside Gaza and the rest of the world,” said Thomas White, Director of UNRWA Affairs in the Gaza Strip. (UNRWA)
