The documentary Redlight, directed by Guy Jacobson and Adi Ezroni, set in Cambodia, tells the story of Sokha, kidnapped and forced to work in a brothel, and her brave sister Reena; of Srey Preuv, who has been sold by her mother and of other trafficking victims. Mu Sochua and Somaly Mam, two women who have experienced violence themselves in their lives, are fighting for justice. It is too easy for criminals to buy their way out of a trial or out of prison. And as the case of Srey shows, sometimes even the families of the victims don’t protect them. The film was followed by a Q & A session with Pierrette Pape (European Women’s Lobby), Andrea Matolcsi (MONA Foundation for the Women of Hungary) and Pablo Espiniella (Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights) |
