Since 1996, Bonn, the seat of the United Nations, has held an annual celebration on a Saturday in October to mark the “Birthday of the United Nations”. The United Nations Charter was ratified on 24 October 1945.
United Nations Day brings the work of the UN in Bonn closer to the people. Traditionally, many organisations active in Bonn present themselves in a tent city on the market square, providing information on a common theme and inviting people to support them. In addition to presentations in tents and at information stands, there will be a colourful stage programme for the whole family.
Since 2015, the United Nations Days are dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals.
