The Mission of Colombia to the EU, the European Commission, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) are pleased to invite you to a discussion ahead of the United Nations Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16). The event will focus on the current state of biodiversity, COP16 priorities and expected results as well as challenging issues for global action such
as the financing and cooperation to implement the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

Set to take place from 21 October to 1 November 2024, in Cali, Colombia, this is the first COP on biodiversity to be held since the adoption of the KM-GBF. The framework established a roadmap to guide countries to take national actions towards the four overarching goals and 23 targets to stop and reverse biodiversity loss.

The COP16 in Cali seeks to address environmental challenges by promoting multilateral collaborative efforts and sustainable practices. It is a critical platform for countries to engage in an international dialogue to assess their implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans within the Global Biodiversity Framework.
