UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances

Norway is one of three countries which will undergo a review in the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances 25-26 September.

The Committee CED) will hold its upcoming session from 23 September to 4 October, during which it will review Morocco, Norway and Ukraine.

The session will begin with a public meeting, including a space of tribute to victims of enforced disappearance, featuring a testimony from the wife of disappeared Laotian activist Sombath Somphone.

Morocco, Norway and Ukraine are among the 76 States parties to the International Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance.

Norway will undergo a review of its initial report by the The UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances of 10 independent international experts on how they are implementing the Convention and thereafter as needed.The review will take place in Geneva
