To mark World Refugee Day and to celebrate Ciné-ONU’s 50th screening, Ciné-ONU and the Goethe-Institut invited you to the screening of “The Mission”.
Forty million people, worldwide, are fleeing war, violence and death. Since its foundation in 1950 the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has carried out its mandate, to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect such refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide.
The Mission charts the journey of three UNHCR refugee aid workers: Claas (31) from Germany, Anita (43) from Austria, and Mathias (39) from Tanzania, from their 10-day training through to a dangerous mission in southern Sudan.
Can they overcome the grave challenges they face and bring assistance to a people who, it seems, know only war?
The film was followed by a Q&A, with:
- Mr. Stefan Eberlein (Director of The Mission)
- Ms. Melita Sunjic-Hummel (UNHCR Representative)
