In his documentary road movie, director Frédéric Brunnquell seeks to answer why a ticket with Ryanair can be purchased for just a few euros or why Lidl’s products are so cheap. After meeting with company owners and former employees, he discovers that the precondition for high profits is low salaries and working conditions bordering on exploitation. Being a flight attendant is no longer prestigious and sitting behind the counter at the supermarket is often a nightmare. With this approach, discount companies once again create customers out of their own employees, who have no choice but to buy their cheap goods…
