To mark Human Rights Day, the United Nations & the Netherlands Perm. Rep. to the EU and the Netherlands Embassy in Belgium screened “Nasrin”.

The film was followed by a panel discussion, in the presence of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Javaid Rehman, and the Human Rights Ambassador of the Netherlands, Bahia Tahzib – Lie.

Synopsis

The film portraits the life of human rights activist Nasrin Sotoudeh, that has fought for the rights of women, children, LGBT prisoners, religious minorities, journalists and artists, and those facing the death penalty. She was arrested in June 2018 for representing women who were protesting Iran’s mandatory hijab law. Even from prison she continues to advocate for the protection of human rights in Iran.

The film has a run time of 85 minutes.
The screening was in English, Farsi with subtitles in English.
